Chainsaws, Dish Soap, and Heart: Our Volunteer Day at LIVE-IT Ministries

Chainsaws, Dish Soap, and Heart: Our Volunteer Day at LIVE-IT Ministries
More than 20 members of the Kings of Real Estate team volunteered at LIVE-IT Ministries in Sevier County this April.

Some days we sell homes. Other days we grab chainsaws, wheelbarrows, and rubber gloves — and show up for the people who need it most.

This April, more than 20 members of the Kings of Real Estate team spent the day volunteering with LIVE-IT Ministries in Sevier County. No closings. No contracts. Just our team doing the work that matters.

What Is LIVE-IT Ministries?

LIVE-IT is a faith-based nonprofit in Sevier County that serves isolated seniors — people 60 and older who are dealing with loneliness, unsafe living conditions, and limited resources. Through a network of churches, social service organizations, and volunteers, LIVE-IT connects these seniors with the community and support they need.

They also operate a thrift store and donation center at 11935 Chapman Highway in Seymour, where every purchase and donation goes directly toward funding their mission.

LIVE-IT is one of our Big 3 worthy causes — organizations we have committed to supporting not just with donations, but with our time, our hands, and our hearts.

What We Did: A Full Day of Service

Our volunteer day was not one task. It was an all-hands effort across the entire LIVE-IT property. The team split up and tackled everything the ministry needed — indoors and out.

Clearing Trails and Overgrown Land

Part of the LIVE-IT property includes wooded areas and walking trails that had become overgrown and impassable. Our crew grabbed chainsaws, loppers, and mowers and got to work clearing brush, cutting back overgrowth, and restoring the grounds.

One highlight: clearing and restoring the area around the Wyatt Moore Memorial Bridge — a meaningful landmark on the property that had been hidden under months of overgrowth.

Rebuilding the Parking Lot Planter

The stone planter at the entrance of the LIVE-IT property had seen better days. Our team tore out old debris, repaired the stone structure, and filled it with fresh soil — turning it from an eyesore into a welcoming centerpiece for everyone who visits the ministry.

Washing Dishes and Kitchen Work

While part of the crew was outside tackling the grounds, another group headed inside to the LIVE-IT kitchen. They washed trays, scrubbed dishes, and helped keep the food service operations running smooth.

Hauling Supplies and Organizing Donations

The donation center is the lifeblood of the thrift store operation. Our team spent hours hauling supplies, moving heavy boxes, sorting donated furniture and building materials, and organizing the space so the ministry can operate more efficiently.

Interior Repairs and Maintenance

Inside the building, our crew patched walls, made repairs, and handled the kind of behind-the-scenes maintenance that nonprofits rarely have the resources to tackle on their own.

Why We Do This

We get asked this a lot: Why does a real estate company spend a whole day volunteering?

Here is the honest answer.

Because we believe every home we sell should mean something beyond the closing table.

At Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty — Kings of Real Estate, a portion of every transaction goes directly toward supporting organizations like LIVE-IT Ministries. That is not a marketing line — it is how we have built our business from day one.

When you work with our team, you are not just getting a guaranteed sale. You are helping fund the work that keeps seniors connected, communities stronger, and places like LIVE-IT running.

We call it Go Serve Big — and it is a core part of who we are.

How You Can Support LIVE-IT

You do not have to be part of our team to make a difference. Here is how you can help:

  • Volunteer your time. Visit liveit.care to see how you can get involved.
  • Shop the thrift store. The thrift store is located at 11935 Chapman Highway in Seymour — every purchase supports isolated seniors.
  • Donate goods. Drop off items at the Donation Center. Your old furniture, clothing, and household items get a second life and fund the mission.
